Karate academy raises Katrina funds

Craig's Kempo Karate Academy, 80 School St., has raised more than $9,000 in disaster relief funds to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Linda Driscoll, the MetroWest director for the American Red Cross, accepted a check Oct. 11, for $9,236.36 at the academy.

This year alone, the karate school has raised more than $17,000 for disaster relief, $8,000 for the tsunami and more than $9,000 for Hurricane Katrina. From the $31.20 that 7-year-old Justin raised, to Alexander, who is 8 years old and raised $1,800, every contribution matters.
